Giving Tuesday at the Colonial Theatre
In the spirit of Giving Tuesday (November 27), a day that celebrates and encourages charity and generosity, the Colonial Theatre will give back to the community with free film screenings of the classic holiday special A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and the popular new Fred Rogers documentary Won’t You Be My Neighbor?
“Rather than ask our neighbors to give to us, we decided to give back to them on this special day,” said Ken Metzner, Colonial Executive Director. “Our community gives to us every time they buy a ticket, order treats at our concession stand, or tell their friends about our various events. To thank everyone for their continued support of the Colonial, we thought it would be nice to do so via the way we know best – by offering great entertainment!”
In addition to the free film screenings, the Colonial’s lobby will host representatives from local non-profits throughout the afternoon and early evening. “Phoenixville is home to a lot of great non-profits that are doing some really wonderful and amazing things throughout our community”, exclaimed Metzner. “But during this busy holiday season, when every retailer and national charity is vying for everyone’s attention, it’s often difficult for homegrown organizations to get their word out there. So we wanted to give back and provide them an opportunity to connect with their community“.
